Europe‘s metals, steel, paper, and plastics recyclers industries are united in calling for a harmonised method to measure recycling rates at input into the 'final recycling process', so as to promote material recovery and thus quality recycling. We support the European Commission and European Parliament proposals on this subject.
Plastics Recyclers Europe was celebrating its 20th birthday during the Annual Meeting which took place on 16 and 17 June in Cascais, Portugal. The event gathered over 150 participants from all over Europe who were debating on improving plastic waste sorting.
The demand for recycled plastics has not been negatively affected due to low oil prices. Some media claim that the plastics recycling market is affected by a decrease in the oil price. However, this situation does not reflect the general situation of European plastics recyclers, only certain companies who are exposed to exports of plastics.
Organisers of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe exhibition and conference, which had to be postponed in November due to the security alert in Brussels, have announced that the event has been rescheduled to take place on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 March 2016 at the new venue of Brussels Expo.
